Senior Toddler Room Progress Report

Jacob is moving on to the Preschool Room!  Oh my, how time flies.  As always, I am amazed at how well his teachers know him.  It speaks to the great care he is being provided!  Here's his progress report:

Jacob is a very happy, energetic, and affectionate little boy who has demonstrated growth in all areas of develeopment in the Senior Toddler room.  Jacob recognizes his primary colours and some secondary colours.  He can count from 1  - 12 and recognizes shapes, such as squares, circles and triangles.  Jacob communicates well to his teachers and peers most of the time; however at times his communication is not clear.  Jacob enjoys playing with puzzles, matching games and a variety of animals, such as farm animals, dinosaurs, and zoo animals.  He will patiently sort big ones and small ones and proceeds to line them up in order.  He is able to jump, run, kick, and throw balls and rides a tricycle where he prefers to use his feet and not the pedals.  Jacob plays well independently and in small group play but needs reminders on sharing and turn taking.  Jacob eats and drinks independently and always uses his utensils.  Over the last few weeks, Jacob has been using scissors and has improved his fine motor skills.  Jacob also enjoys creative activities such as painting, gluing, bingo dabbing, and water colouring.  We have enjoyed having Jacob in the Senior Toddler room and we will certainly miss him.  Good luck in the Preschool Room!

Goals:

1.  To encourage and enhance turn taking, sharing, and cooperative skills, we will use positive role modelling and small group play scenarios.
2.  To further develop his language skills, we will continue to introduce learning experiences such as flashcards, books, and worksheets which will encourage him to repeat sounds and words.
3.  To incorporate toilet training we will encourage Jacob to use his words more often for his bathroom needs.  We have been taking him more frequently and he has been dry for longer periods.

Someone decided to jump out of the crib...

Jacob is officially out of the crib.  We caught him crawling out on the monitor and I got there just in time before he took the plunge to the floor.

He lasted in the crib much longer than Claire. She jumped out at like 15 months.
