Happy Halloween!

This was Jacob's first Halloween to dress-up and go out to collect candy.  He was not crazy about his costume to say the least....

Awe...what a nice photo with Daddy!  Jacob is like "get this ridiculous thing off me!  I'm nobody's puppet!".

Then Daddy reminded him about the candy....."What there's candy!"

Yes, this is much better.  I think I can do this now!

Claire knows this holiday well now and was soo excited!

Outside the door, getting ready to bring home the candy...or so Daddy hopes!

A picture of our pumpkin.  Daddy is quite the carver.

One of the coolest pumpkins we saw during our travels.

Well Jacob didn't make it very far, maybe 10 or 12 houses.  It was a nasty night, cold and rainy.  He was happy to be back home and quickly checked his candy out.  In this photo he is thinking over the whole experience and thinking, that wasn't so bad.  I could do that again.

Jr Toddler Room Progress Report

Jacob will be moving onto the Sr. Toddler room now that he is 2.  This is what his report said:

Jacob is a cute and busy little oby.  There is lots to say about him.  Since Jacob moved into the Junior Toddler room he has shown a great improvement in all areas of development.  He actively explores his environment, keeping busy at sensory and creative activities, especially painting, goop and sand play which are his favourite.  His language skills have progressed in the past two months.  He is able to count from one to ten, answer questions "What's this?" with objects names, point to ten or more objects in a book when named, point and name body parts and point at and say peers names.  He express his needs and wants, recognizes the colour blue and at time will guess the colour green.  Jacob can be found playing with his peers in a group or side by side each doing separate activities.  Jacob manipulates cause and effect toys, shape sorter toys, puts pegs on peg board and builds with Lego blocks.  He enjoys playing alone when building with blocks or putting animal puzzles together which he loves to do.  Jacob enjoys music and story time but for a short period of time.

Jacob will test his limits with the teachers, i.e. at lunch time he will play with his food and/or throw it across the table when he does not lit or he is full.  He will also spill his cup of milk to make his friends laugh or sometimes he will copy one of his friends behaviour, i.e. dumping toys from the baskets.  Jacob has a hard time during cloak transitions.  He refuses to follow through daily routines, i.e. changing diapers, getting dressed, etc.  He will scream so loud and cry until we finish changing him or dressing him, and cries when washing his hands.

In the self-help area, Jacob feeds himself but still requires some reminders to use his fork at lunch time.  He is able to take his shoes off but he refused to do it at sleep time and requires teachers assistance to get dressed for outdoor play 80% of the time.  In the fine/gross motor area Jacob can run, go up and down stairs with minimal aid, jump with two feet, scribbles, places and takes out small objects from a container.  Jacob loves and will spend a long period of time looking at books as well as playing with the cars.

Goals:
1.  In the Senior Toddler room Jacob will continue to be encouraged to dress himself and take off his shoes during cloak routine to further enhance his self-help skills.

2. To further enhance Jacob's development and curiousity, we will continue to offer a variety of more challenging activities such as memory games, flash cards and books where he will be able to recognize all his primary and secondary colours as well as his shapes and hopefully will capture his attention span for a longer period of time.

3.  To continue to re-direct Jacob to follow through on daily routines, i.e. diaper change, getting dress, etc. without hesitation and/or screaming/crying.  We will praise Jacob when completing a task, i.e. "Thank you Jacob for not crying when it was time to change your diaper".  We will also give Jacob a warning call before his turn to change his diaper or other daily routines, i.e. "After Peter will be Jacob's turn to go to the washroom".

Jacob we wish you all the best in the Senior Toddler Room.  You will be missed.

_____

Ummmm......that was a mouthful and oh so true, every word!  Man, they call it like it is.  So I guess being a softy isn't helping him!  I know, I know....but he's soo cute!

All I can say is he takes after his father.  He cannot follow simple instructions, is what Anthony's parents used to always say about him.

Annual Halloween Party

M&J had their annual halloween party today.  Jacob and Claire weren't very interested in wearing their costumes.  They were however very interested in the trampoline...

Here's the whole gang!

Move over Thomas!

Jacob didn't waste any time getting up this morning to play with his new train table!

Train goes down the track....

Train goes up the track!

He got this elephant that sings and he plopped him on the table to oversee the track.

He loves pressing the button to hear him sing.

2 Year Milestone

Jacob turned 2 years old today!  Our little guy is getting so big and his personality continues to evolve.  We have to admit, we're softies with him, letting him get away with stuff because he is the BABY and because he is SO DARN CUTE!  How can you say no to him?

Jacob loves all things trains, elephants and puppies.  He loves watching his Diego videos in the morning and is a bit of a couch potato!

Here is his latest picture:

He is so affectionate...takes after his mother.  Daddy and Claire are cold hearted, lol...

This picture says don't get on my bad side.....or you will pay!  Yep, that's mommy too...lol.

He's a happy little guy for the most part and just loves to have fun!

This is his little teddy.  He's had him since he was a newborn and loves to chew on it, just like a little puppy.  Teddy has had numerous baths but the stench cannot be washed away.  He adores him!

And the slideshow of months gone by:

Happy Birthday Boys!

After Boolathon we headed back to our place for a Birthday Party for the Boys.  It was Isaac's actual birthday but he gladly shared the day with his little bro.

Jacob's birthday is in a few days and is turning 2....already!

Isaac turned.....14......!  What a good sport for letting us make the birthday theme Go Diego Go for his little bro.

Crammed table and kitchen....its all good.

Yummy birthday cake!

Isaac opening some gifts.  He's at the "gift card" age but he also got some nice "weekend" clothes.

Jacob got all his favourite things....puppies, elephants and....

Trains!  A lovely family called the McKinnons were kind enough to give us their old train table.  It was in super condition and we got him lots of Thomas Trains.

Pictures of the chaos.

All in all a low key birthday with just the immediate family.  It was perfect!

Boolathon

We went to a charity event today - bowling for Kids Help Line - or "Boolathon".  It was a dress-up event and I brought my neices.  Here they are having a treat before we left.

We weren't successful in getting Jacob to wear his costume...

Claire was cinderella and wore make-up.

Mya was a fairy and wore a lot more make-up...haha.

And Thaiana was Draculaura and the make-up artist.

A photo of some of my work colleagues, including Joanne as Black Widow.

Snow white and Cinderlla.

Claire's turn to bowl.

The trouble maker...he had fun running back and forth.

And would only stop for candy.

Getting Ready for Halloween!

We had our annual candy bag stuffing!  The kids love doing this.  Jacob is right in there this year.

Grandma is too!  Claire loved making them....in between eating candy.

Jacob played supervisor and quality control.  He would taste anything you thought was questionable.

Clearly he takes after Anthony with his sweet tooth.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Anthony brought home some cake (s) for my birthday.  Here I am getting ready to blow out the candles.

I needed Jacob's help.

Yay, he did it!

Cake is goooood.  We love M&M's.

35 is still young!  I got another gift from Tiffany's to go with my anniversary gift.  I was happy!
